I kind of don't think they are Fomitopsis pinicola, which tend to prefer conifirs. I can't see the underside but wonder if they could be Ganoderma apllanatum (Artists's Conk). Mushrooms are always tricky to identify and require a lot of evidence - usually including color, shape, type, gill structure, spore print etc. Your blog looks very interesting, quite eclectic.
