Who is shaking the jar?

“If you catch 100 red fire ants as well as 100 large black ants, and put them in a jar, at first, nothing will happen. However, if you violently shake the jar and dump them back on the ground the ants will fight until they eventually kill each other. The thing is, the red ants think the black ants are the enemy and vice versa, when in reality, the real enemy is the person who shook the jar. This is exactly what’s happening in society today. Liberal vs. Conservative. Black vs. White. Pro Mask vs. Anti-Mask. Vax vs. Anti-vax. Rich vs. poor. Man vs. woman. Cop vs. citizen. The real question we need to be asking ourselves is who’s shaking the jar… and why?” – Shera Starr

40% of world’s plant species at risk of extinction

Two in five of the world’s plant species are at risk of extinction as a result of the destruction of the natural world, according to an international report.

Plants and fungi underpin life on Earth, but the scientists said they were now in a race against time to find and identify species before they were lost.

These unknown species, and many already recorded, were an untapped “treasure chest” of food, medicines and biofuels that could tackle many of humanity’s greatest challenges, they said, potentially including treatments for coronavirus and other pandemic microbes.

More than 4,000 species of plants and fungi were discovered in 2019. These included six species of Allium in Europe and China, the same group as onions and garlic, 10 relatives of spinach in California and two wild relatives of cassava, which could help future-proof the staple crop eaten by 800 million people against the climate crisis.

New medical plants included a sea holly species in Texas, whose relatives can treat inflammation, a species of antimalarial Artemisa in Tibet and three varieties of evening primrose.

China may establish Earth-Moon economic zone for space travel and lunar experiments

China may establish Earth-Moon economic zone for space travel and lunar experiments -- Science:

China is mulling of establishing an Earth-moon space economic zone by 2050, with insiders expecting the zone to generate $10 trillion a year.

Bao Weimin, director of the Science and Technology Commission of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, revealed the ambitious plan at a seminar on space economy on Wednesday, media reported Friday.

In a report on developing earth and moon space, Bao shared his thoughts on the huge economic potential in this field and pledged that the country would study its reliability, cost and flight-style transportation system between the Earth and moon, The Science and Technology Daily reported Friday

He pledged to complete basic research and make a breakthrough on key technologies before 2030 and establish the transportation system by 2040. By 2050, China could successfully establish an earth-moon space economic zone, he said.

Many netizens were thrilled by the news, with some saying that "if I can catch a flight to the moon during the rest of my life, I would die without any regrets."

Tibetans are crying out to the world

After decades of repression under Chinese rule, the Tibetan people's frustrations have burst onto the streets in protests and riots. With the spotlight of the upcoming Olympic Games now on China, Tibetans are crying out to the world for change.
The Chinese government has said that the protesters who have not yet surrendered 'will be punished'. Its leaders are right now considering a crucial choice between escalating brutality or dialogue that could determine the future of Tibet, and China.
We can affect this historic choice--China does care about its international reputation.
China's President Hu Jintao needs to hear that the 'Made in China' brand and the upcoming Olympics in Beijing can succeed only if he makes the right choice. But it will take an avalanche of global people power to get his attention--and we need it in the next 48 hours.
The Tibetan Nobel peace prize winner and spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama has called for restraint and dialogue: he needs the world's people to support him. Click below now to sign the petition--and tell absolutely everyone you can right away--our goal is 1 million voices united for Tibet:

Conspiracy Theories (so many of which have become fact)

This past year I have had many discussions and conversations with friends and watched various docu's and googlevids about conspiracy theories. During that time I discovered that one of my neighbours was a freemason and a member of the Amsterdam lodge, a friend pointed out chem-trails to me, I learned about the power of mass mind-control and all about the fear-mongery of the dark forces of the world. Quite sensational and enthralling I assure you and worth taking into consideration too but all rather hopeless and gloomy aswell.
It's all "mind" as far as I am concerned and a means of distracting you from the truth and immobilizing you with fear.
The following text is from The Shattered Realm blog and it sums up my thoughts on the subject perfectly. Read the whole post now here: Conspiracy Theories
...By Afagddu
Whatever the nature of a Conspiracy Theorist’s faith, whether based on the belief that the world is run by lizards from another planet; that the pure-bred, Aryan descendants of the Europids are held hostage in an underground network beneath China; that an unholy alliance of Freemasons and Satanists are sacrificing 13% of American newborn baby boys to Elvis; that the American Government and the Catholic Church are locked in a bitter struggle over the ownership of the Holy Grail (which the Americans tried to cover up by catapulting gliders into some of the buildings where it could have been kept, thus foiling a raid to free it by John Dillinger and the Secret Masters of Tibet in the eleventh hour); or whether it is any one of the numerous other countless, less spectacular - but still unbelievable - conspiracy theories that abound, they all have a few things in common.
  • They’re the product of Paranoid thought.
  • They have a thick air of delusion woven about them.
  • They appeal to a sense of fantasy.
  • They are usually connected in some way to a hatred of the traditional enemies of Christian (more specifically Protestant) society. Be they the Illuminati, the Jews, Freemasons, Satanists, Catholics or anyone else other than those who could really be responsible for some of the events attributed to them.
  • Those interested in them are often far removed from the events in question, which in reality will only have a minimal or distant effect on their lives. Opinions will have largely been shaped by the media, whether mainstream or underground .
  • The accused rarely take the accusations seriously. Buckingham Palace has yet to issue a statement in response to David Icke’s claim that Queen Elizabeth II is a lizard. Scientific or historical data is often deliberately skewed by the leaders and formative members of such movements and attempts to correct their data by the better qualified is refuted or ignored. Margaret Murray’s deliberate doctoring of trial data relating to the supposed ‘burning times’ and the formative mass belief of the made-up accounts of 19th Century ‘historian’ Lamothe-Langon for instance, led to an entire generation of Wiccans forming opinions about the history of religion, tradition and Initiation that are completely laughable to anyone who studies such things objectively.
  • They favour the over-complex and under-realistic over good sense and applying Occam’s Razor.
  • Their adherents all believe that they are indefatigably right about their chosen cause. Yet how can every single conspiracy theory possibly be true?
  • They’re never about good or pleasant things. Like certain elements of the media, those who form and deliberately propagate Conspiracy Theories magnify their attention on sensationalist, horrific or ‘evil’ phenomena.
  • They manipulate evidence and fabricate information as a means of creating scare tactics to assume psychological or ‘memetic’ control over people.
  • They're in the same category, memetically speaking, as chain letters and urban legends.
  • They’re all bullshit.
I dislike Conspiracy Theories for the same reasons that I dislike any other single-issue cause or pressure group; they tend to require a blinkered, limited, biased view that becomes unshakable leading to a devotion equitable to that of any religious cult.
None of this means that people shouldn’t doubt ‘official’ versions of events, which are also usually biased to a specific agenda. To question things and to wonder – or even doubt - whether we are being told the truth by politicians and the state are natural things for an intelligent and inquisitive mind to do. But to assume the polar opposite must be true to any statement that you don’t quite agree with is unhealthy, as is allowing fantasy and paranoia to assume too large a grip over one’s views and opinions.

Pythagoras

Pythagoras represents the eternal Pilgrim for philosophia perennis -- the perennial philosophy of life. He is a seeker of truth par excellence. He staked all that he had for the search. He traveled far and wide, almost the whole known world of those days, in search of the Masters, of the mystery schools, of any hidden secrets. From Greece he went to Egypt -- in search of the lost Atlantis and its secrets.
In Egypt, the great library of Alexandria was still intact. It had all the secrets of the past preserved. It was the greatest library that has ever existed on the earth; later on it was destroyed by a Mohammedan fanatic. The library was so big that when it was burnt, for six months the fire continued.
Just twenty-five centuries before Pythagoras, a great continent, Atlantis, had disappeared into the ocean. The ocean that is called Atlantic is so called because of that continent, Atlantis.
Atlantis was the ancientmost continent of the earth, and civilization had reached the highest possible peaks. But whenever a civilization reaches a great peak there is a danger: the danger of falling apart, the danger of committing suicide.
Humanity is facing that same danger again. When man becomes powerful, he does not know what to do with that power. When the power is too much and the understanding is too little, power has always proved dangerous. Atlantis was not drowned in the ocean by any natural calamity. It was actually the same thing that is happening today: it was man's own power over nature. It was through atomic energy that Atlantis was drowned -- it was man's own suicide. But all the scriptures and all the secrets of Atlantis were still preserved in Alexandria.
All over the world there are parables, stories, about the great flood.
Those stories have come from the drowning of Atlantis. All those stories -- Christian, Jewish, Hindu -- they all talk about a great flood that had come once in the past and had destroyed almost the whole civilization. Just a few initiates, adepts, had survived. Noah is an adept; a great Master, and Noah's ark is just a symbol.
A few people escaped the calamity. With them, all the secrets that the civilization had attained survived. They were preserved in Alexandria.
Pythagoras lived in Alexandria for years. He studied, he was initiated into the mystery schools of Egypt -- particularly the mysteries of Hermes. Then he came to India, was initiated into all that the brahmins of this ancient land had discovered, all that India had known in the inner world of man.
For years he was in India, then he traveled to Tibet and then to China. That was the whole known world. His whole life he was a seeker, a pilgrim, in search of a philosophy -- philosophy in the true sense of the word: love for wisdom. He was a lover, a philosopher -- not in the modern sense of the word but in the old, ancient sense of the word. Because a lover cannot only speculate, a lover cannot only think about truth: a lover has to search, risk, adventure.
Truth is the beloved. How can you go on only thinking about it? You have to be connected with the beloved through the heart. The search cannot be only intellectual; it has to be deep down intuitive. Maybe the beginning has to be intellectual, but only the beginning. Just the starting point has to be intellectual, but finally it has to reach the very core of your being.
He was one of the most generous of men, most liberal, democratic, unprejudiced, open. He was respected all over the world. From Greece to China he was revered. He was accepted in every mystic school; with great joy he was welcomed everywhere. His name was known in all the lands. Wherever he went he was received with great rejoicing.
Even though he had become enlightened, he still continued to reach into hidden secrets, he still continued to ask to be initiated into new schools. He was trying to create a synthesis; he was trying to know the truth through as many possibilities as is humanly possible. He wanted to know truth in all its aspects, in all its dimensions.
He was always ready to bow down to a Master. He himself was an enlightened man -- it is very rare. Once you have become enlightened, the search stops, the seeking disappears. There is no point.
Buddha became enlightened... then he never went to any other Master. Jesus became enlightened... then he never went to any other Master. Or Lao Tzu, or Zarathustra, or Moses.... Hence Pythagoras is something unique. No parallel has ever existed. Even after becoming enlightened, he was ready to become a disciple to anybody who was there to reveal some aspect of truth.
His search was such that he was ready to learn from anybody. He was an absolute disciple. He was ready to learn from the whole existence. He remained open, and he remained a learner to the very end.
The whole effort was... and it was a great effort in those days, to travel from Greece to China. It was full of dangers. The journey was hazardous; it was not easy as it is today. Today things are so easy that you can take your breakfast in New York and your lunch in London, and you can suffer indigestion in Poona. Things are very simple. In those days it was not so simple. It was really a risk; to move from one country to another country took years.
By the time Pythagoras came back, he was a very old man. But seekers gathered around him; a great school was born. And, as it always happens, the society started persecuting him and his school and his disciples. His whole life he searched for the perennial philosophy, and he had found it! He had gathered all the fragments into a tremendous harmony, into a great unity. But he was not allowed to work it out in detail -- to teach people he was not allowed.
He was persecuted from one place to another. Many attempts were made on his life. It was almost impossible for him to teach all that he had gathered. And his treasure was immense -- in fact, nobody else has ever had such a treasure as he had. But this is how foolish humanity is, and has always been. This man had done something impossible: he had bridged East and West. He was the first bridge. He had come to know the Eastern mind as deeply as the Western mind.
He was a Greek. He was brought up with the Greek logic, with the Greek scientific approach, and then he moved to the East. And then he learnt the ways of intuition. Then he learnt how to be a mystic. He himself was a great mathematician in his own right. And a mathematician becoming a mystic is a revolution, because these are poles apart.
